Happiness

How to promote happiness is a contemporary field in psychology and is incorporated in research around positive psychology.  Literature discussed how there many facets to promoting happiness highlighting the importance of good relationships, achievements, health, and the environment as examples. This page looks to promote 10 keys to happiness developed by Action For Happiness and explore resources to help parents, pupils and professionals when embedding happiness as something we do and have impact upon through daily actions with children and young people.

Action for Happiness is a charity dedicated to creating a happier and kinder world for everyone and they lay out the 10 keys to happiness below - click on links to view the full information from Action for Happiness. For each section below we have linked subsequent catalyst developed or wider resources which can help promote that key principle. 

Action for Happiness has also developed a library of resources which help to promote their key happiness principles. The service provides a happiness calendar each month which focuses on one or more of the key principles and is a great self-directed tool for children to use to promote and support happiness, click here to see all calendars. - Please note these calendars can be printed in a variety of languages to ensure inclusion and access for all. These calendars can be used in paralleled with each month or you can select an area to focus on and utilise the daily activities provided in the calendar to develop further that key principle. 

Action For Happiness have also developed a schools toolkit for supporting emotional wellbeing and resilience (children 5-7 and 7-11).
