Theresa Coughlan

Theresa qualified as an Educational Psychologist at Manchester University. She worked for Trafford and Tameside Local Authorities for eighteen years. Her experience in the Local Authorities involved with working with a range of mainstream and special schools, local authority educational support services and colleagues in social care and health.

While working for Tameside Local Authority Theresa was appointed as a Senior Practitioner with the responsibility for Promoting Positive Behaviour and Social and Emotional Well Being. Her experience and areas of interest in this role included interventions to support individual pupils, whole class and school systems and strategies to support children at risk of exclusion. The responsibility in Tameside included strategic work such as anti-bullying and safeguarding work such as E Safety, the impact of Domestic Abuse on children and families, promoting positive outcomes for Children in Public Care and early intervention for vulnerable families.

Her areas of interest also include raising attainments and supporting children with difficulties acquiring literacy and numeracy skills, the application of Positive Psychology in Education, Restorative Practice, understanding the needs of young people and children with autism and supporting children in their early years to ensure improved long term outcomes.
