Description:

Specific programme requirements: as a number of sessions are IT based, we ask that you provide access to an interactive whiteboard and projector, in a quiet room.

This is a 5-session programme delivered by an Assistant Psychologist supervised closely by a Senior Educational Psychologist for young people about to undertake examinations.  This can be delivered to a small group of pupils or can be adapted for one to one work with a vulnerable young person.

Developed by psychologists working at Edge Hill University, the intervention is aimed at students with high levels of anxiety around exam performance within Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form settings.

The programme involves a number of IT based modules including anxiety management, relaxation techniques, facilitative discussions and related homework exercises between sessions. The programme has been evaluated as working best with students who already have a degree of motivation for change.  Sessions last for around 50 minutes and we aim to work with students for five weeks.  We will seek to evaluate pre and post intervention and provide a summary document when the intervention is completed.
