Belonging Matters Toolkit

About the Belonging Matters Toolkit

The Belonging Matters Toolkit was developed as a practical “what works” resource following the Catalyst Connects: Belonging Matters project. As a government funded project this resource is free for all to use.  It builds on the experiences and insights of schools that took part in the Belonging Matters Charter Mark, highlighting key areas where support for International New Arrival pupils (including refugees, asylum seekers and migrants) can be strengthened.

While many schools offer strong initial support when pupils first arrive, the project indicated the need for ongoing support for pupils and families and staff. The toolkit addresses this gap by providing clear, accessible guidance for schools.

It includes frequently asked questions, examples of best practice, and a range of resources designed to support pupils, parents, and staff from the point of arrival through to four years later—ensuring a sustained and confident approach to inclusion and belonging.
