Peter joined Catalyst as a Partner Psychologist in 2025, working part-time between Tuesdays and Thursdays. He says:
I’m delighted to join the team at Catalyst Psychology. I have a longstanding commitment to promoting inclusive education, whilst seeking to remain grounded in the real-life experiences of children, schools and families. In my practice as an EP I often draw on approaches such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Dynamic Assessment.
Peter qualified as an Educational Psychologist in 1999 and initially practiced in a local authority EPS in Oldham. Peter holds Chartered Membership and Associate Fellowship of the British Psychological Society and is Registered as an Educational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Peter has another part-time role, as Professor of Inclusive Education at Edge Hill University, where he leads research into Universal Design for Learning as inclusive practice in schools across Ireland. He was previously a lecturer at the University of Manchester and the University of Birmingham. At Manchester Metropolitan University he led the Centre for Inclusive Education & SEN, and established the National Award for SENDCos, in partnership with local authorities across Greater Manchester. His research has focused on augmentative and assistive technologies, IT for inclusive practice, inclusive pedagogy, young offenders with SEND, race equality, teacher education for inclusion, and evaluating the Whole School SEND Review.
