Louisa Rees

Louisa is a Year 2 Trainee Educational Psychologist completing the Doctorate in Child and Educational Psychology at the University of Sheffield. Before starting her training, Louisa worked as a primary school SENCO and teacher within a specialist autism resourced provision, supporting children’s learning and inclusion in mainstream classrooms. Prior to this Louisa worked as a specialist primary school teacher in a special school for children with a range of complex needs.

Throughout her career, Louisa has been passionate about creating inclusive learning environments and ensuring that children’s voices are heard and valued. She is particularly interested in relational approaches to practice, neurodiverse-affirming perspectives, and strength-based ways of supporting children, families, and schools. She is committed to anti-oppressive, trauma informed and culturally responsive practice, seeking to promote equity and belonging in educational settings.

Since beginning doctoral training, Louisa has gained placement experience across different educational psychology services, working with children and young people from a wide range of backgrounds. Her research project will explore female experiences of ADHD and mental health and well-being. What motivates her most is working alongside children, families, and schools to find creative, meaningful ways forward together.
