An interactive afternoon led by Tim Watson exploring the theme of Identity with and for educational psychologists. The focus will be particularly in relation to children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma, but not exclusively.

The hope is that this training session will benefit children and young people by :
- Raising awareness
- Shifting some perceptions and attitudes
- Developing knowledge and skills
- Changing what people do
- Changing practice across the organisation
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Consolidate their knowledge about the Poly Vagal theory
- Be reminded of the definition and nature of Developmental Trauma
- Revisit an understanding of identity development
- Explore the importance of sensory integration in identity development
- Consider other ideas to promote identity awareness using a range of play-based and drawing resources and activities
- Be introduced to two approaches in exploring the concept of identity and then practice using them
- Internal Family Systems and its various parts
- Journeys using ‘roads and rivers’
- Reflect upon their own personal and professional practice
The afternoon will feature 2 sessions:
1st session (1.15 - 2.45) will be a focus on sensory integration, poly vagal theory and interoception and how that is essential for any sense of awareness and identity
2nd session (3.00 - 4.30) will be a continuation, looking at the more cognitive / conceptual aspects of identity.
